2009 Trinidad and Tobago Budget delivers higher gas and car prices

While the budget did not favor motorist, it brought an increase in the amount of pension payable to retired public servants, disability, public assistant and senior citizen grants. There was also the elimination of stamp duty on houses bought up to a ceiling of $850,000 and an increase in financial assistant to post-graduate students.
But the talk on the mouth of most citizens today was the increase in motor tax for private imported vehicles and the increase in premium gasoline that is said to bring government around $525 million dollars in additional revenue.
