Warner to account to UNC for for $30 million

The National Executive agreed to refer Chaguanas West MP, Jack Warner to the UNC Disciplinary Committee. Warner was asked to account for $30 million he spent which he was given prior to the last election and for voting with the PNM in support of the Securities Bill.

The root of the internal problems between Warner and the executive seems to stem from Warner's refusal to respond to letters sent to him, asking him to account for the $30 million funds. Warner has said he will not be forced out of the party in anyway.

Warner said he was not concerned about any action that Panday and the party executive may wish to take against him. He said his conscience was clear. Maharaj was not present at last night’s meeting. Warner also said that the $30 million was his money and as such, he did not have to account to the party over how much money he spent to bankroll its election campaign.

A $30 million question was put to Chaguanas West MP Jack Warner yesterday, as he was sent to the UNC's Disciplinary Committee for his failure to answer this charge and for voting with the PNM in support of the Securities Bill at the last Parliament sitting.
