Law Association passes No Confidence motion for John Jeremie

The Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago last evening passed a no confidence motion against Attorney General John Jeremie. This is as a result of a battle he had with former Director of Public Prosecution Geoffrey Henderson and his appointment to the post of Attorney General on May 29th for a second time.

The meeting among the lawyers yesterday was well attended at the Hall of Justice and after a two (2) hour debate Jeremie was "tried" by a "jury" of his peers and found wanting. The motion had three (3) items all of which were voted on by a majority of members.

Attorney General John Jeremie has been severely censured by members of the learned Bar, who, at a specially convened meeting yesterday at the Hall of Justice, Port of Spain, considered and passed a no-confidence motion against him.

The lawyers, by a vote of 127-59, condemned in the strongest manner, the reported attempts by Jeremie to undermine and threaten the constitutional independence in the office of DPP. Daly told the media: "Now that the members have expressed themselves, this is now the view of the Law Association. We have nothing to say beyond what our members have said in this motion.

    we have to really think hard. when an A.G who heads the judiciary has lost the confidence of his peers. it is really a new chapter in the lows of Trinidad & Tobago's politics
