Michael Jackson dead at age 50

The King of Pop Michael Jackson has died at the age of 50 after going into cardiac arrest early Thursday afternoon on the eve of his comeback tour in London.

Jackson collapsed at his home in West Los Angeles on Thursday morning at around 12:22 pm after suffering a cardiac arrest and slipped into a coma. The 1982 Thriller album singer which sold over 50 million copies and is still never outsold to this date, had no pulse and was unconscious when paramedics arrived at his Bel Air mansion. Michael never regained consciounsness after arriving at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles in full cardiac arrest, despite doctors trying to resuscitate him for over an hour. He was pronounced dead at 2:26pm Californina time.

Various websites have been reporting that the cardiac arrest may have been triggered by a cocktail of seven different prescription drugs according to latest reports coming out of Los Angeles.

Michael is the seventh of nine children and is survived by his three children, Prince Michael I, Paris and Prince Michael II.

Evidence that emerged during his child molestation trial four years ago revealed that he suffered from a long-standing addiction to powerful prescription pain-killers. He'd started taking them in the mid-1980s to cope with a lower back problem aggravated by performing. There was no indication that he ever stopped.

A source inside the hospital told us there was "absolute chaos" after Jackson arrrived. People who were with the singer were screaming, "You've got to save him! You've got to save him!"

Paramedics were administering CPR en route in the ambulance after answering a call to his Holmby Hills home, according to Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda. Crews reached his home at about 2:30 (CST).

Fire Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's home at 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and took him to the hospital, Ruda told The Times.
