Manning should just say the truth.

One of the problems this Patrick Manning administration has practiced is the tardiness in which information is disseminated to the general public. Now when I say information, I mean accurate and current information. I will give a few examples to prove my point.

Read Read about Manning should just say the truth.  |

The Minister of health declares that there exists no dengue outbreak in Trinidad and Tobago. People suffered, and died, the entire medical fraternity appeal for urgent intervention, and the minister of health remains in denial. Finally admitting after maybe 50 people died. I personally know 1 person who died, and another who contracted dengue twice.

Another example is that the Government alleged statements that they have the handle on crime, and or statements in which they claim that the crime surge will be muzzled by "X" date. Of course they have not yet been able to come clean and tell the public the truth, which is they cannot handle the crime surge unless a state of emergency is called, and martial law is declared.

Now that I have given two excellent examples let me now begin to explain the latest in which the Government is the last to admit and inform the public. This is strictly on the economy.

Mr. Manning has been very reluctant to admit the true state of the economy. Even the central bank Governor Mr. Ewart Williams has now been caught in the cat cut yuh tongue syndrome, and seem to speak long after the facts are known to all. Both have not yet admitted that Trinidad and Tobago is currently in a recession. A recession is simply in economic terms (two sequential quarters of negative economic growth). Why is it then that after three quarters of that, the Prime Minister has not been honest enough? The hard cold facts are not just that Clico failed and Carnival sales have been slow, but that Trinidad and Tobago is in a knee deep recession. A situation where Prime Minister is only going to fully admit after spending for the now 550 million dollars for a two day summit, with very bold and harsh measures being implemented.

The cancellation of the O.J.T programme under the Ministry of Science and technology, with the releasing of 10,000 trainees with a stipend ranging from $1600.00 - $5000.00 monthly.

A 45 - 48% devaluation in the Trinidad and Tobago Currency as the value of the dollar will be floating between $9.10 and $9.33 to $1.00 U.S.D. This will in fact have a trickledown effect with all foreign merchandise and services being inflated. As citizens spend less and less, businesses will be forced to possibly send home workers, as already being done in the slowing construction sector, and reduce work hours to reduce payroll. What will truly be amazing is the fact that while Trinidad and Tobago grapples with this crises, the Government is in denial. Even more amazing is the bail out of Clico without taking control of Home Construction limited, the primary home developer in Trinidad and Tobago, and the main perpetrator of high cost of homes within Trinidad and Tobago.

So Mr. Manning should start telling the truth and stop bracing. The sooner the truth is known the quicker we will be able to look for true solutions to our problems and progress will be more meaningful.

when Trinidadians and Tobagonians vote for a party just because their parents voted for that party and they don't care about issues and all they interested in is bacchanal and party and freeness this will ultimately be the result Patrick Manning have no reason to be honest because he will win anyway.
