Shurwayne Winchester

In 1996, Shurwayne landed the contract as frontline signer with top Soca band Caribbean Traffik, with whom he will perform for the next 12 years. His first recording was made in 1998, with the tracks "Leave It In" and "Soca Baby" with Traffik. His voice caught the attention of record producer Devon George and he then recorded "Get Out of My Dreams". The song, released in December 1998, remained in rotation for two years until July 2000 a rarity in the Soca genre!
In 2004 he released his second album titled "Press Play" featuring his 2004 Road March song "The Band Coming". Shurwayne did it again in 2005, winning the Road March title two years in row with his track "Dead or Alive". In 2006, he won the Soca Monarch for "Can't Wait" and Groovy Soca Monarch for "Don't Stop". In 2007, he won the Soca Monarch People's Choice Award. He again captured the Groovy Soca Monarch title in 2008 with "Carnival Please Stay".
Over the years he has won numerous awards including "Best New Artist", "Male Vocalist of the Year", "Songwriter of the Year" and "Song of the Year". His biggest achievement yet, is probably the formation of his own band, Y.O.U, which was launched in October 2008.
