CONTAINS FAT showcases the diverse work of an international collection of 23 emerging artists from 17 countires across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and the Caribbean. From live art to performance installation, the pieces celebrate the immediacy and power of the live performance encounter.
The artists making work for the Festival are dancers, actors, directors and fine artists who have been training and researching in an international, multi-disciplinary laboratory towards hybrid forms of performance. They are all students of the MA in Performance at renowned Goldsmiths, University of London. The programme has launched a number of international production companies, collaborations and research projects that operate both in London and across the globe.
Taylor, who is a National Scholarship winner and honours graduate from Williams Collage in the United States, is currently studying at Goldsmiths as a Commonwealth Scholar. She is no stranger to international festivals, having debuted her one-woman show, Pack Light, in the 2006 New York International Fringe Festival.
She has worked with a number of performing arts companies in the US, the UK, and at home in Trinidad & Tobago. In Trinidad, recent theatrical performances include Sex, Lies & Money with Richard Ragoobarsingh, Cecilia Salazar, Deborah Boucaud-Mason and Nigel Auguste; and Foursome in Toco with Ragoobarsingh, Glenn Davis, and Susan Hannays-Abraham. She also sings with the Marionettes Chorale and with Ella Andall, and has written for both stage and television. In Trinidad, she works at MEP (Media & Editorial Projects Ltd) in Port of Spain, publishers of Caribbean Beat and Discover Trinidad & Tobago magazines.
