As swarms of "Trinis" come to Tobago for a cool down they will be witness to a beach experience most of them have never seen, skies filled with kites and sails of all sizes cutting across the waves.

Spawned from the recognition that players of ball sports are usually fans of other ball sports, e.g. Football, basketball, golf and cricket, the organizers have pulled together an array of sailing sports and have created a regatta like no other in the region and perhaps the world.

A combination of 5 mini regattas, including the Big Boats, local and regional Bum Boats, the young Optimists sailors, Wind surfers and Kite Boarders make the Tobago Carnival Regatta a true 'Festival of Wind!'

With the successful launch of the regatta last year, the promoters have seen a huge rise in the numbers of participants and the quality of athletes coming from all over the world including Germany, Norway, the UK, USA, and France and across the region from St Lucia, Barbados, Antigua and Trinidad and Tobago.


Working closely with the Tobago House of Assembly, Bmobile and Peakes, Regatta Promoters ltd have set it self two primary goals, to encourage the local people to get back into the water and sail, and to give the supporters and beach goers a close up, mind blowing experience, featuring radical Kite boarders and Wind surfers executing extreme sport maneuvers only meters from the beach and the sounds of top Djs cranking up the atmosphere.

As the time draws near some of the entrants have already started arriving in Tobago and others have gone on to Trinidad to celebrate Carnival before returning to Tobago to compete.
The competitive banter has already started amongst the competitors, the challenges are set, the lines have been drawn and the race is on.

Who will be crowned King Sailor this year is left to be seen; only time and skills will tell.
