However although he continued to write, keeping his pulse in tune to his surroundings and the society at large, he felt there was a missing element to his own creativity. At age 17, he found the infectious drive of Hip Hop music to be invigorating and found divine inspiration from Rappers such as Nas and the late Tupac Shakur. While immersing himself into the art-form, he recalls: "There were times I would lock myself in my room to practice my skills as a story teller and poet enough for listeners to take a journey through my thoughts".
In 2003 Malik performed at the Telethon for the Artists, which was a live broadcasted. He is also involved in the Circle of Poets and in 2004 was involved in a number of productions including The Poetry Tour in Tobago called The Fifth Encounter, UNAIDS Youth Fest, Best Village: Village Chat and Poetry, Songshine, UWI Speak, Les Mots De Mon Coeur - 'The Words of My Heart' - a Circle of Poets Production, One Mic' and many 'Open Mic' sessions.
In 2005 Malik released his first music video for the track called Street Life, directed by Elspeth Duncan of Happy Hippy Productions, music and production by Navid Lancaster of Sure Sounds Recording. Street Life was different to the typical rap video with ladies in short skirts shaking their behinds, fast cars and 'bling bling'; it goes deeper. Malik addressed many aspects of the day to day struggle that we face as a people such as crime, domestic violence, suicide, and poverty, having the fuel and determination to overcome these hardships with a strong belief in GOD. Being victorious is the true meaning of a Street Life.
In July 2009 he hosted his own event entitled 'My II Cents Making Change'. This was a Rhyme Stone Production held at U.W.I Creative Arts Center in Gordon Street, St. Augustine, aimed at making the public more aware of Cancer. Malik was also one of the feature performers at O.P.E.N (Ordinary People Entertaining Naturally) as well as open for the for the funk/reggae/ rock band called Gazette at the Next Dor Pub and appeared on Unplugged Yuh Self as a guest artiste, performing with his a fusion of spoken word, rapso, r&b and alternative rock band held at Woodford Café, Movie Towne. His band line up is as follows:
Malik Inniss: Guitar and vocals
Clayton Bunraj: Lead guitar
Kayode Salina: Vocals
Sade Sealey: Background vocals

Malik and his band have also been the latest addition to the cast of 'Unplugged' to be held at Woodford Café, Movie Towne on Tuesday 10th November, 2009 at 10pm.
